Appointment of General Manager and Publisher for Hart

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc announced in September 2013 that it had completed the acquisition of the issued share capital of Hart Publishing Ltd (“Hart”), the Oxford-based legal publisher, from the management shareholders.

After an extensive search Bloomsbury is delighted to announce the appointment of Sinead Moloney as the new General Manager and Publisher at Hart. Richard Hart founder and CEO will be moving to an advisory role from 1st April 2014.

Sinead Moloney joins Hart Publishing from Cambridge University Press, where she held the position of Senior Commissioning Editor, Law. She joined the Press in 2003, after starting her editorial career at LexisNexis, working on Halsbury’s Laws. In 2006, she was appointed as commissioning editor, with a remit to develop law textbooks for the UK and European market. In addition, she managed the academic European law list. Sinead is well known to law academics both within the United Kingdom and in Europe, following a program of extensive commissioning visits. Commenting on her appointment, Sinead said, ‘The Hart list has for a long time been the byword for academic rigour and serious legal scholarship. Its acquisition by such a highly-regarded publisher such as Bloomsbury marks an exciting new departure for the list, and I am delighted to be joining the team.’

Richard Hart founder and outgoing Managing Director of Hart said: ‘We are really fortunate that Sinead wanted to join Hart at this point in its history. I can think of no one else in legal publishing right now who has her breadth of editorial experience and who is as well liked and trusted in the legal community. If anyone had any doubts about the direction in which Hart was headed, Sinead’s appointment confirms that Hart is aiming high. I shall be doing everything I can in my capacity as a Consultant to Hart to support Sinead in the coming months, and look forward very much to working with her.’

The Hart lists are highly complementary to Bloomsbury’s existing academic and professional lists, boosting international sales, a key goal for the academic and professional division.
