Mark Zuckerberg meets Law Minister, says happy to contribute towards Digital India initiative
New Delhi: Facebook chief executive officer (CEO) Mark Zuckerberg met Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in the capital on Friday and said that he was happy to contribute towards the Digital India initiative.
“The Digital India programme will connect a billion people over internet. It will help in spreading the innovation of Indian people, we are happy to help out,” said Zuckerberg.
Appreciating the young billionaire’s enthusiasm to contribute towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, Prasad said Zuckerberg was keen on playing a significant role in increasing connectivity in the country.
“He (Mark Zuckerberg) is keen to play a significant role in India in field of broadband retail, e-education, e-health and other such programmes. What is important is that Facebook has a significant presence in India and has enormous scope,” Ravi Shankar said.
“Have taken his suggestions on board, he showered great appreciation on digital India programme, we will work together,” he added.

Zuckerberg, 30, was in India on a two-day visit, during which he also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On October 10, the young billionaire had said that he is looking forward to work on the Prime Minister’s Digital India initiative at the Internet.org Summit.
He had also said that connectivity should not just be a privilege of the rich and stressed on the importance of connecting villages.
His visit comes close on the heels of visits by high profiled US tech VIPs Satya Nadella of Microsoft and Jeff Bezos of Amazon.
