Senior Business Development Manager, Greater China
Norton Rose Fulbright – Hong Kong

 

Reports to: Head of North Asia and Head of Business Development, Asia
Role
To provide strategic and day-to-day business development support to the Head of Business Development, Asia and to the partners in the Hong Kong office in line with the practice’s objectives;
to provide high level business development assistance to the Beijing and Shanghai offices, working in conjunction with local business development staff;
to collaborate with the global Business Development department to deliver coordinated business development activity to raise and enhance awareness of Norton Rose Fulbright in its Key Industry Sectors areas;
to manage the Regional Business Development team in Hong Kong and Beijing; to develop and manage best practice for the region;
to promote and facilitate integration with Norton Rose Fulbright throughout the offices.
Responsibilities
Strategic planning:
Provide high level business development advisory support for the Hong  Kong, Beijing and Shanghai offices working closely with the Head of North Asia. To lead the local business development teams in providing first line business development support for the Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai offices.
Implementation of business development strategy especially in relation to our sector focus and enterprise client initiative. – Assist with formulating business development plans for Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Support the Head of Business Development, Asia with the management of the regional business development team.
Implement and manage the existing business development and communications systems. Devise and roll-out new systems as necessary.
Nurturing integration throughout the firm with Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing.
Enterprise clients:
Working with the central Enterprise team and the Head of Business  Development, Asia to assist with the management and development of global and priority Key Client relationships in the Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.
Assist with the development of account plans for the regional targets which identify business development priorities and target billings and driving implementation of the plans.
Work closely with other colleagues in the team and department to ensure that global projects and campaigns are focused on client needs and are utilised effectively to develop key relationships.
Brief and debrief secondees and be the key BD point of contact for them ensuring that they are kept in the loop on marketing activities and requests are passed onto them.
Bids:
Project manage bids for the Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai offices, drafting and editing text where necessary and provide high level assistance for bids undertaken.
Ensure the team has developed high quality materials for the region for use in proposals and as boiler plate text.
Events:
Manage and support key business development and profile-raising events, in particular, the Hong Kong Sevens sponsorship.
Key Industry Sectors:
Work to support the creation and delivery of marketing campaigns (based on global Key Industry Sector campaigns) that will raise the practice’s profile.
Systems:
Assisted by the Business Development team, manage the business development systems for the Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai offices including clients database, deals database, bid library and CV database.  Supervise and monitor the use of these systems.
Others:
Manage the Hong Kong and Beijing Business Development team.
Liaise with business development teams across Norton Rose Fulbright.
Any other duties as requested by Head of Business Development, Asia.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
relevant degree and/or professionally recognised marketing or communications qualification
10 or more years relevant experience
strong practice management skills
excellent project management skills
experience managing projects within a virtual team environment and managing expectations
can turn a commercial issue into business development opportunity (this will be tested in interview)
proactive business development professional who can generate and lead activity rather than simply taking ideas and delivering them to best practice
