As an interesting test of the iPad?s abilities and in preparation for potential requests from the firm?s fee earners, Jonathan Smith, IT Manager at the firm set up Citrix on the iPad and successfully accessed LawSoft alongside other desktop applications.
Apple?s tablet computer, recently released in the UK, is generally expected to be as popular as their ground breaking iPhone. Its business applications are still to be proven, but this test demonstrates how it could potentially be utilised. Jonathan comments ?As an IT professional, I was looking forward to getting my hands on the new iPad. Like all Apple?s products it looks good but I was curious to see what it could do beyond surfing the web or reading an e-book. We downloaded the free Citrix receiver from the App Store and configured it for SSL/Domain authentication. We?ve found that LawSoft runs really effectively on it, which opens up possibilities as the iPad is certainly very portable and pretty easy to use. However, I guess it?s unlikely that iPads will suddenly become a standard piece of equipment for many lawyers right now!
