Former GMU professor under House investigation for allegedly sexually harassing students

The House Committee on Education and the Workforce has opened an investigation into a former George Mason University law professor and the school for a possible Title IX violation after a recent report detailed alleged sexual harassment of female students.

In early June, Joshua Wright, a former professor at the Antonin Scalia Law School, was the target of a Wall Street Journal investigation that detailed complaints made against him, including the alleged use of his academic power to seduce and harass female students in classes he taught.

The university tells 7News that Wright resigned from GMU in 2023.

On Wednesday, the Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Fox (R-NC) published a letter sent to the Law School’s dean Kenneth Randall, where she calls for an explanation from the school on how it investigated the students’ allegations, preventative measures the school took to reduce alleged harassment, and copies of the school Title IX policy between 2004-23.
