Communist Party Encourages Women To Embrace “CCP Version of Rule Of Law”

Maybe we’re just cynical by reading it thus. But it appears to ALE that the party thinks the way forward is to get women involved with their version of “Rule of Law” and then the men will follow.

Here’s the piece. Make your own decision but remember it’s what’s between the lines that’s important.

Song Xiuyan, vice president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF), called on women to take initiative in respecting, learning about, abiding by and making use of the law, in a bid to promote rule of law in China at a conference held in Beijing on February 27.

The conference was held to launch a campaign of encouraging more women to participate in China’s legal construction and of protecting women’s rights, to coincide with the upcoming International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8 annually.

“The rule of law” came to prominence last year at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee and refers to the guaranteed modernization of the system of government while championing social justice.

Song said at the conference that as women account for almost half of China’s population, it is crucial for them to participate in China’s legal construction. For one, the promotion of the rule of law in an all-round way is sure to provide a powerful legal system that guarantees women the ability to exercising their democratic rights, participate equally in economic and social development and enjoy the fruits of national reform and development. Moreover, women’s improvement in legal consciousness and spirit will have a significant impact on society’s people, including their children. Thus, it is in women’s best interest to participate actively in and to help promote China’s legal construction partly because they benefit from it directly.

Song stressed that the campaign is a measure by women’s federations to implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee and to serve the overall work of the Party and the country. It aims at helping women raise their awareness of law and practice the legal spirit, to contribute to China’s rule of law.

Song also stressed that it is each citizen’s personal responsibility to take the initiative to respect, learn, abide by and make use of the law. If every woman takes it upon herself to fulfill this requirement, it would generate great power for China’s legal construction.

Song urged women’s federations of different levels to fully understand the significance of the campaign and to exert women’s initiative in respecting, learning, abiding by and making use of the law by launching various law enforcement publicity activities in women’s activity centers in rural and urban communities.

Song also urged that the specialized communities of female judges, prosecutors, lawyers and more should take the opportunity to carry out various activities among grassroots-level women to learn the law together with them and to provide legal services to them. Furthermore, various social media and public opinion publicity organs in women’s federations should also publicize women who have been model individuals respecting, learning, abiding by and making use of the law.

The ACWF released the main content and methodical outline of the campaign at the conference and presented rights protection guidelines to representatives of grassroots women’s activity centers.
