CLSIG Legal Research Workshop Tuesday 24th June 2014

Here’s the Press Release ………

Ever feel like you could be getting more out of your sources? This hands-on workshop will look at the strengths of different tools, from legislation and case law databases, to practical know-how tools, to current awareness resources, and at how information obtained from one service can be used to aid further searches of another service. The session will work through a sample research enquiry to showcase a wide range of resources.

Attendees are welcome to submit any queries or functions they would like to see demonstrated in advance. Who should attend? Legal information professionals looking to update their research skills (whether job-hunting, a new library assistant or just your ongoing CPD); anyone who does legal research and wants to make the most of their subscriptions (information professionals, PSLs…); law librarians wanting to check out the possibilities of databases they don’t currently have access to; information professionals wanting to move into the legal sector and get the inside track. All welcome!

Note: The session will assume some knowledge of legal information. If you’re switching sector or new to law and aren’t sure what this means for you, please get in touch.

Training will be provided by Thomson Reuters, and the demonstrated services will include Westlaw, Practical Law and Lawtel. Whether you subscribe to a different suite of products or are an existing user of TR products, come along for the super-user research tips that will help your work.
